I had never really tried to take any portraits of anyone prior to this. I think they turned out nice, but sometimes the surrounding areas were too dark leading me to use a higher ISO than I would have liked resulting in unwanted texture.

  • Lower apertures are better for portraits.
  • 50-80mm focal length is ideal.
  • Definitely plan around the light more for the sake of the ISO.

I don't usually go to urban settings for photos so this was a bit of a step outside my comfort zone. I am very happy with the detail that turned out in them as well as the sky being one flat color to help draw attention to the buildings.

I recently got a new macro Lens and decided to try it out over the break. It was different yet familiar to the landscape photos I like to take because it's just like a smaller little world.

  • Need a faster shutter speed because at that distance, any movement is a big movement
  • Need to control the aperture more as it has a much larger range than my other lens

I took multiple photos of each subject here and compiled them into one photo.
